The Stichting Noordzee launched their bi-annual campaign MeetMee. Between the 1st and 15th of March they call on volunteers to monitor part of the Dutch beach for litter. So the 1st of March, I picked a place near IJmuiden South of the Pier of IJmuiden. A stretch of 50 m parallel to the dunes, towards the seashore. At first site the area looked pretty clean but appearances are deceiving. A lot of mainly small plastic pieces and other small items were lying on the sand. Especially a lot of ty-raps were found. Some very large ones, indicated that they are used I n a professional setting, like on-board. No nurdles were found and also hardly any Styrofoam.
